Our Terroirs

Coteau de Verschiez (Ollon)

The vineyard of Ollon stretches from the Rhône River, at the border with the canton of Valais, to the edge of the Vaudois Pre-Alps. The hillsides of
Verschiez, Antagnes and Ollon are formed from limestone eand saline rock impregnated with bands of gypsum dating back 230 million years..

The Coteau de Verschiez, between Aigle and Ollon, benefits from a microclimate conducive to grape cultivation, with abundant sunshine. As Bernard Cavé beautifully puts it, it's "a piece of Provence in the heart of the high Chablais." Facing due south and sheltered by the Plantour hill to the north, record temperatures are frequent. "It's an extraordinary terroir where you find many plant species from southern France," notes the winemaker, who owns a hectare of Chasselas on this plot.

Clos du Crosex Grillé (Aigle)

The Clos du Crosex Grillé (meaning "fire combe" or "sun trap") is located on an extension of the slopes of Yvorne, in the municipality of Aigle. Located on the mountainside and surrounded by woods, it covers a total area of 2.6 hectares, with 2.2 hectares dedicated to vineyards. The vineyards are terraced to cope with the steep slopes, reaching up to 500 m in altitude, with gravel and limestone scree soils originating from moraines.

The most significant portion of the Clos du Crosex-Grillé is naturally dedicated to Chasselas (75%), while the later-ripening Syrah occupies around 3000 m2, plus the trellises under the walls. With yields not exceeding 65 hl/ha for Chasselas and 40 hl/ha for Syrah, the total production of the Clos du Crosex-Grillé does not exceed 17,000 bottles in good years.
